September 2024 Member Spotlight: Anaiss Rijo Lelonek
For September it is a pleasure to spotlight Anaiss Rijo Lelonek. She is an associate court attorney for the 8th Judicial District’s Supreme and County Court Help Center, where she assists pro se litigants on various court procedures.
Service on Multiple Boards
Prior to her current role, Lelonek was an attorney for the Erie County Department of Social Services. Also, she previously served as an attorney for children at Children’s Legal Center.
Lelonek is a former treasurer and director for the Minority Bar Association of Western New York. She is a local director for the Western New York chapter of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, and she serves on the board of directors for the Volunteer Lawyers Project and the board for Lawyers for Learning.
In law school she was a president of the Latin American Law Students Association.
Alumna of UB and CUNY
Lelonek received her Juris Doctor from the University at Buffalo School of Law as a member of the Class of 2016.
She received her bachelor’s degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice of the City University of New York (CUNY). She is a proud alumna of the John Jay/Ronald H. Brown Law School Prep Program, and she is now a board member of its alumni association.
NYC Native & Daughter of Immigrants from Dominican Republic
Lelonek is committed to public service. She is a New York City native and daughter of immigrants from the Dominican Republic. She is happy to have made roots in Buffalo.
