MBAWNY Participates in 2024 Juneteenth of Buffalo Festival
June 15 and 16, 2024: We are excited to be participating in the Juneteenth of Buffalo Festival!
Minority Bar Association of Western New York members at our booth are distributing guidance materials such as housing rights pamphlets, booklets on small claims and commercial claims, leaflets about legal assistance, and information for people experiencing homelessness. Plus, we’re giving out candy bags, totes, pens, and other swag.
It’s all possible with the partnership of:
Also, we’d like to warmly thank the members of our Juneteenth committee and its chair, Norvella Pendergrass, for all of their hard work and dedication to coordinating and executing our presence at the festival!
It’s estimated that 30,000+ people are attending the festival this year — with 5,000+ in the annual Juneteenth parade. The festival celebrates 49 consecutive years of honoring Black history, as well as celebrating freedom and community pride. The festival was started in 1976 by B.U.I.L.D., a community-based organization. It was held on Jefferson Avenue; murals were painted and vendors had booths. After several years, the Juneteenth Festival outgrew Jefferson Avenue and moved to Martin Luther King Jr. Park.
We’re proud to be a part of this important event.
